So many amazing singles, EP’s and albums are released every week that it can be hard to keep track of it all. To make things nice and easy for you, here are some of our favourite releases of the last week. Bringing you something from different countries, genres and styles.
Let Me Breathe Again – Junodream
After singles Travel Guide and Eden Burns, Junodream continue their release-streak with Let Me Breathe Again. An energetic track that according to the band is all about ‘commercial claustrophobia’. It’s another great offering from the London-based four-piece and we can’t wait to see them live on their UK headline tour in autumn. In the mean time, read our interview with them here.
Oíche – Fears
One of our most-anticipated albums of this year Oíche, was finally released this week and it didn’t disappoint. From Irish singer Constance Keane – better known as Fears – the album is hauntingly beautiful and personal, and cements her as one of the most exciting new artists around. With copies of the record selling out quickly, we advice you to get your hands on one soon. And to get to know her more, you can always read our interview.
Bright Green Field – Squid
Brighton-based Squid have long been one of the most exciting bands in the post-punk scene and now, after various singles and EP’s, they have released their debut album. A daring, exciting release, the album keeps you on your toes, with each song never quite going into the direction you expect it to. It’s a bold and innovative debut, that proves the current ‘post-punk’-scene is more diverse and filled with potential than it first appears.
New Age Millennial Magic – Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard
Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard have long been a favourite here at Reel Culture. With singles such as Double Denim Hop and John Lennon Is My Jesus Christ, the band evokes the rock and roll sound we love while giving it a modern twist. Their latest release New Age Millennial Magic is no exception: with the band never taking themselves too seriously while somehow still managing to provide apt commentary on our current society. We can only hope they release many more tracks this year and that we finally get to sing along to them at one of their gigs again.
Fire – Louien
Fire is Norwegian’s singer Louien’s final single from her upcoming EP No Tomorrow (which will be released on June 4th). Another magical track, Louien continues to combine her stunning vocals with her poetic songwriting. The kind of music that is perfect for a summer evening, you can’t help but be swept away by the sound and lose yourself for a few minutes. We can’t wait for the full EP and you can read more about it in her interview here.
