Release Round-Up: Sabiyha, Busty & The Bass and More

So many amazing singles, EP’s and albums are released every week that it can be hard to keep track of it all. To make things nice and easy for you, here are some of our favourite releases of the last week. Bringing you something from different countries, genres and styles.

Undone – Sabiyha

South London’s Sabiyha celebrates women, sex-positivity and her Indo Caribbean heritage through her music. Her latest single Undone is an honest and empowering single, breaking away from stereotypes surrounding women and sex.

For anyone who loves pop, R&B and in need of a feminist anthem.

The Et Suite – Busty & The Bass

After their acclaimed album Eddie, Montreal’s jazz-funk ensemble Busty & The Bass is back with a new EP. Featuring five tracks that are all a different interpretation of their song ET, the EP was made in isolation of each other due to the pandemic. The result is a genre-mixing experience that you can’t help but dance to.

For anyone who loves funk and jazz with a modern twist.

Better Woman – Louien

Indie-folk singer Louien is back after the success of her 2019 debut album None of my Words, with her single Better Woman. With an uncanny ability of storytelling paired with her ethereal vocals, Louien has created a track you want to dream away to. Her next EP is out in June and we already can’t wait for it.

For anyone who loves music that feels like a summer-breeze and needs the comfort of soothing vocals and soft guitars.

Letters from Suburbia – StevieRay Latham

Letters from Suburbia feels like a film soundtrack and takes you on a journey through different genres and moods. Taking inspiration from Greek mythology and Gothic blues, StevieRay Latham has created an EP that is poetic, dark and haunting. He has created a wholly unique sound, and you can’t help but get swept away into another world.

For anyone who loves experimental-indie and feeling like they are the main character in a film.

Vacation – Foley

Anyone who’s been on ReelCulture this past week already knows about Foley and their latest EP Vacation, but we felt it warranted another mention. Funky and joyful, we haven’t stopped listening since it was released only a few days ago and it will make the perfect soundtrack to warmer days. (You can read their interview here.)

For anyone who loves a bit of funk and who’s eager for summer.
