Over the last few years, Chloe Foy has steadily been making waves in the industry. Having raked up an impressive following with singles ‘Asylum’ and ‘Flaws’, Foy has already headlined her own UK tour and was named ‘One to Watch’ by BBC Introducing in 2019. Her latest single ‘Left-Centred Weight’ once again proves that she is worthy of all the acclaim.
Her striking voice and beautiful lyrics immediately pull you into Foy’s music, but it is the combination of classical music and folk/indie influences that truly make her stand-out amongst the many singer-songwriters working today. While the mix of genres could easily miss the mark, Chloe Foy makes the different styles blend together perfectly, creating a refreshing and beautifully melancholic sound.
Her latest release continues to showcase her unique sound, and couldn’t have come at a better time. With lyrics that touch upon the difficult topic of grief and loss, it will undoubtedly resonate with many people right now. After having experienced grief herself Foy explains “the song is about feeling that everyone’s going to die, (…) but ultimately coming to terms with it and making peace”. And as we listen to Chloe Foy’s soothing voice and the hook ‘go easy brain’ repeats itself again and again, we can’t help but cautiously hope that yes, maybe it will all be okay again. And in the mean time, at least we have Foy’s music to listen to.
Left-Centred Weight is out now on all major streaming platforms.
